WOYWW517

It's been over a year since I last shared my desk,
but a couple of weeks ago I saw a FBpost from Sarah from Sarah's Craft Shed
about decreasing blogviews
and I was reminded of this lovely supporting community
so I ought it was time to join in again,
that is if you have me back of course?

Below a snapshot I just made from my desk

and here are some detail pictures

top left are some watersoluble oil pastels from Talens,
at the right a box filled with my indexcards for the 365somethings2018 challenge,
yes, I am still doing the 365somethings2018,
I am currently at no.199.
I am determined to finish this challenge, rather then abondan it,
don't know in which year it will be finished though 😏
because lately crafting has been on a low fire.
I am trying to find my mojo back in different ways:
by investing in new supplies,
joining back with this bloghop,
creating new stencils with my Silhouette (bottom picture)

thx for stopping by.

WOYWW 386 - stencils

Welcome ,
come in
and have a look at my desk
(it is WOYWW after all)

You can see the very first page in my new art journal.

I usually don’t have blank page syndrome,
But I must say I had blank journal syndrome this time.
It is the first time I bought a proper journal, usually I use a cheap book or make one myself,
But now I splashed out and bought a nice book with sturdy pages that hopefully can withstand all kinds of media

You may or may not remember I bought a silhouette cameo last year to be able to cut my own stencils. Well, I must say I’ve used it but not that extensive. I think I was unconsciously worried about needing to change the blade every 5 seconds, but I realized that it is better to having to change the blade rather than leaving the machine unused.
So this weekend I cut and I cut and I cut... 22 stencils and counting.

I used some of the stencils in my journal already,
remember the pink drip page from a couple of weeks ago,
I added some stencilling,
the page is coming together,
 needs some more work though

some other pages in process

snowangel

I splashed out this week and bought me an early Christmas present, a Silhouette Cameo. Off course I've been testing it ever since. And I've managed to find the right settings to cut through my transparencies to create stencils, big hoera!! (and lucky as this was the main purpose for investing in it in the first place)
As this week challenge over at The Craft Barn is snowflakes I downloaded a snowflake background and let the machine do its work, the results are amazing, how it's able to cut even the most intricate designs.
I started out with a 12x12 piece of patterned paper and sprayed some Dylusions ink through my brand new stencil

Looking FAB!
I stamped different snowflake stamps all over in different shades of blue, black and white.
I cut a piece of this 12x12 to fit in my journal and punched a snowflake border top and bottom.
I used a picture of my son in the snow as a focal image. This picture is from last year, we don't often get snow here but we drove 1.5 hour south (to the ardens) and there you have some hills with snow, so you can go sledding, walking or cross country skiing.
My son loves to make angels, whether it being snow angels or sand angels J

The winter fun is also cut with the cameo.
You'll definitely see more projects in the future using the cameo because I just might have fallen in love with it (hopefully the love stays).

Halloween

This weekend I finally sat down to execute my plan for this month’s calendar challenge (orange and pumpkin) which I had already drown out  in the beginning of the month but I just didn’t got around making it, but maybe that was faith, because now I can also post it for the weekly challenge (Halloween).

I used orange DI on a craftmat, sprayed some water on top and dragged my paper through it until it was completely covered. It was a bit too light to my likings, so I grabbed my applicator and made some swirls with the same DI which made it much better.

Then I warmed up my heat tool to cut my haunted house and cemetery stencil.
The haunted house actually consists of 2 stencils, the outline and an overlay for the windows and door.

After some stencilling, stamping and adding some details this is how the finished page looks like.

marbled

The background for this page is made using red and orange gel sticks. Through my new homemade brick wall stencil I removed some of the color with a baby wipe.
I stamped an angel statue and some columns on the marbled papers (which immediately popped into my head when I saw the word marbled, these papers were made in a crafting session with my son using shaving cream). After cutting the images out I was a bit disappointed because the nice marbled effect was hardly visible.
For that reason I used the stencil as a template to cut out some bricks and glued them randomly on the page and added a marbled plaque with my quote on it: write the bad things that are done to you in sand, but write the good things that happen to you on a piece of marble.

Turkey has the key to paradise - junk journal page #19

After watching a Carolyne Dube video on using scraps I was so energized, I just had to grab my scrapbox

And get started.
It was so much fun picking scraps

and gluing them randomly on the page.

I also added some color with oil pastels and some writing (words that came to mind when thinking of our holiday last week)

I wanted to add a stencil or mask and suddenly I knew it had to be a Mosk, so I set myself to making one myself, this wasn’t easy but I am satisfied with the result.

And this is the finished page, just added some more stenciling with an Arabian style stencil (to use up all the blue paint I had still on my palette), an attempt at some Arabian writing and a key and red moon embillishment to top it all of.

junk used:
* scrappaper
* ribbon from a gift package
* outline of a punch-out
