22-28/365somethings2018

Hello,

I am on the one hand sad because it is already sunday evening which unfortunately means the weekend is almost over, but on the other hand I am very excited to share with you my next 7 icads in the series.

This week I took a little detour before finding my true inspiration.

I first continued with the collagetheme I started last week

I choose 7 focal images and played with different composition, but for some reason I found it hard to collage on such a small surface,
so I swithed gear and glued down gelli prints on my cards

Next I grabbed a pencil, my posca paint pens and my new favorite black pen, a uni-ball, and went to town with some groovy drawings:

Needless to say that I am very happy with my new additions to my collection.
I am having so much fun with these icads, especially loving the size that encourages me to actually create 365 of them
and like Tammy Garcia aka daisy yellow loving the last one the most until the next one lol 😂

life is one big party

This weekend I went to the DIY store searching for things that I could use as an art supply.
Why did I do that?
Because, according to Carolyn, using supplies that aren’t meant to be used as a craft supply frees you up of the worries whether you are using it correctly, because there is no right way, because it wasn’t meant to be used as a craft supply.
Logic, right?
So what did I find... this gluing aid that is used to glue down tiles.

And what did I use it for... as a texturizer on the gelli plate

Isn’t that one awesome print.
The minute I pulled it from the gelli plate, it screamed party to me.
So I added some funky stenciling, dancing girls, swirly embellishments and the quote:
Life is one big party, enjoy every minute of it.

So this is my entry for this week, I did find some other possible art supplies.
Curious what they are?
Stay tuned and you’ll find out!

butterflies to the stars

Today I used stamps, regular ones and found objects, to create my background.

For the found objects ( like some lego, bottlecaps, toiletrol)

I like to use my gelli plate as stamp pad, brayer it up with a juicy layer of paint and stamp away. As an added bonus I have some wicked printed papers.

The stars are stencilled and outlined with a white gel pen.
The butterflies traced with a stencil and cut out of patterned paper.

I would like to enter this page to following challenges

stripes

It's so hot here right now that I escaped to my studio which is currently situated in the basement, so nice and cool there. I took my gelli plate, brayer, acrylic paints and a texturing tool

and whipped up some prints in bright colors using a corragated piece of cardboard
I then cut the papers in strips of 2cm wide and glued them on a cardbase in different patterns and added some sentiments

Thanks for taking the time to stop by.

May

I finally finished my May page for the Craft Barn calendar challenge where the 2 prompts are magenta and flowers.
I started by pulling out my gelli plate and making a print using magenta acrylic paint and a flower mat.
Next I stamped different sizes of flowers on patterned paper, cut them out and attached them with eyelets to the page.
This stage was done a while ago but I just couldn’t decide on what to add in the center. Until yesterday, suddenly it dawned to me, why not just add the word May, simple, no?
So I wrote the word May, gave it an outline and added a glittery butterfly. All done.

shoe

The prompt for day 46 in embrace your art 365 was turquoise, pink and gold; day 47 favorite color (mine is turquoise) and day 48 is pink, so I combined all 3 in 1 piece. Okay, I know that is not the spirit of the challenge, but creating something every single day is just not feasible/possible for me. I also will be linking to the weeklyCraft Barn challenge, where we need to create something with the theme shoes this week.

I started by gluing 3 hearts out of my scrapbox as a base

Stamped on top with a floral motive and burgundy stazon ink.

Painted over it with gold.

And then came out my gelli plate, somewhat under the dust because it’s been a while since I used it. But last week I bought this amazing mat for doing the dishes which has just the most amazing pattern, just perfect for monoprinting. (and probably also for stamping, spraying)

I used my favorite color turquoise on the plate, added the fab pattern and printed it over the already gorgeous layers. I love how it created a halo around the hearts.

Last but not least I stencilled a pink sandal through a homemade stencil (this one was quite tricky to make due to the fine details) and added a flower strass on the strap.
Typed the quote: keep your head, heels and standards high.

Thx for stopping bye and have a nice day.

better

Hello everyone,

Again only just in time for the 19th Q&L challenge, where the words were better and/or patience, to be used in a quote or lyric (for full details and everyone else's amazing entries click here)

The Gelli Arts blog also has an awesome give away (more details here) for which you need to post a halloween or fall themed artwork on there FB, so I combined the two in one.

I started by gluing 3 pieces of a gelli print on a page, these were made with leaves as mask.

I added some gold embossed leafs and some brown texture paste through a leaf stencil in which I sprinkled red glitters.
The sweet girl is a stamp from gorjuss which I colored using Derwent coloursoft pencils. The tag is from the same stamp set which I enlarged with the pc, colored with some DI in yellow and green and antiqued the edges and handwrote the quote: good things fall apart so better things can come togehter.
Which is such a wonderful filosophy to think about life.
As finishing touch I also added a dried leaf.

As of tomorrow Zsuzsa Karoly-Smith from over at inky dinky doodle is hosting a weekly link party called sunday sentiments, for more details around this click here. So when her link is up I will also be linking up this âge there.

Until next time, bye for now.

Shakespeare - junk journal page #20

gessoed cardboard foodpackage + images out of dictionary =

Gelliprinted over it with a letterstencil in 3 different colors (brown, yellow and orange). You don’t really see the letters but I’m pleased with the background.
Because one of the images was of Shakespeare I took my inspiration from that.
I took a piece of a doiley, sprayed it with red Dylusions and glued it on some double sided carpet tape, added gold glitters in the empty spaces and glued it in the corner of the page.
On the other side I added a lace border with a stamp (from Kaiserkraft I believe) and added a vintage looking lady ( a free printable from Vintage Emphemera Garden -  just sign up for the newsletter).
Made a flower out of bakingpaper which I use when tea dying paper to age them, used another piece of this bakingpaper to add the journaling stamp on which I wrote a quote from Shakespeare:
It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves.
I tried to write in what I think is an old fashioned way. I had an oops while glueing this piece with some gel medium as the marker wasn’t waterproof, so as a result of this it smeared, but this only adds to the vintage charm, don’t you think?
In the upper corner I added a heartshape made out of hot glue which was laying on my desk from an experiment using it as a stamp.

Mistake

Wow, this must be my fastest Q&L entry and fastest page made ever.
I had/set myself a time limit of about 30 mins on this page, this was  in between packing suitcases.
I had found this fun quote: We don't make mistakes, just happy little accidents.
I grabbed a gelli print out of my stash, one with circles and suddenly the quote made me think of smiley faces, so I drew some.
There was a white strip on the bottom which I masked with some homemade gelliprinted washitape.
I added this fun, quirky, sassy girl  who suits the atmospere just perfectly. I stamped her, scanned the image and enlarged it on the computer.
Used some Derwent colorsoft pencils to color her and  give her a funky look and added the quote in handwriting.

I'm off now for a well deserved hopefully sunny, relaxing holiday.
I will be back (in a couple of weeks).

Live with passion

This page started out with a gelli print that wasn't doing it for me, but after I added this face stencil (this was while playing with my new stencils) it blew me away. She reminded me of a Spanish flamengo danser, wich fitted in perfect with this forthnigth's Q&L challenge word passion. I didn't add much more to it, just made her lips red and added a red glittery hair accessoire. Then came the dilemma on how and where to add the quote, finally I decided to make a frame around the picture and add the quote on the edge as if it were the title of a painting. The frame took me some time: deciding the color, the size and then came the even harder bit: the measuring.

Me and my husband like it so much we will give this a prominent place in our hallway.
This also solves my problem on how to incorporate it in my quotes book (which I will be making at the end of the year) as this is not the same size as the other pages, but is much bigger.

Be Unique - junk journal page#17

Here is the other finished page that started out with just some pieces of scrap paper on them.

Here is the process of this page:

1. randomly glued strips of scrappaper on white cardstock      (if I would have been thinking I would have used a piece     of scrap cardboard)

2. gelli printed over it with a gradient of green colors, I like the ghost print as well, it even shows the pieces of scrap.
3. I made my own stamp with a piece of cardboard, string and glue
4. used a crunched up piece of tissuepaper as a stamp with purple acrylic paint and stamped all over
5. diluted some hot pink acrylic paint with water and added as drippage
6. finishing touches: the paperpieced Julie Nutting doll, some tape and the handwritten sentiment "Be unique"
While writing this post I thought of adding my fingerprint with ink, I saw this on one of the other entries of the Q&L challenge from Twinkle's twaddle, so thank you for this idea.

junk used:
* scrap paper
* dictionary pages

So here are the 2 pages that started out almost identical but both went there own way

junk journal page#16

A while ago Clare asked us, the junkjournal group, what kind of junk we were collecting, I posted a picture of a jar filled with dried up pieces of acrylic paint:
jar full of yumminess
At that time I did not have a specific project in mind but now was the time, I wanted to use some of it.

I started out by gessoing a piece of scrap cardboard with the gelliplate (more details will follow later in my gelliclopedia)

The sky is painted in a blue liquid watercolor and the grass is green acrylic paint in which I dropped some of the pieces of dried acrylic paint when it was still wet.
That was the background done and then I had to lay it aside until I got some inspiration on how to progress further.
This inspiration came yesterday in the form of the fantastically amazing blog from the paperartsy (definetely need to place an order, such amazing stamps, but sadly my wishlist will be way more than my finance will allow me).
I was mainly inspired by the tissue flowers.
I added some random stencilling to create some more interest in the background and outlined some of the shapes with my white pen. Then took a flower stamp which I stamped on a piece of gelli printed delipaper , didn’t want to overstamp with dark ink, so I used versamark and clear embossingpowder to give it a shimmer, cut them out, crumpled them up a bit and glued them down, they don’t look like flowers to me, but rather butterflies. The red chevron stencilling draws the eye into the page.
As a final touch I added some glitter rub-ons and done.

Here are some close-ups:

great for texture

New Home cards

Hello there,

I made these colorful cards for someone who is moving, so they can notify all of their relatives and friends of this event and give them the new address.
I made them out of gelli prints and a homemade house stamp (for the how to see also pretty dress stamp)

I'm so glad I found a way of using up some of my gelli prints, so I can make some more J

The sweepstake remains open for another 22 days, be sure to check it out over here.

Let's party!!!

These prints are inspired by the very talented Andy Skinner. I love my prints, but they don’t come even close to the artworks of Andy. I loved the process and the outcome so I decided to play a bit with different colors.
