WOYWW517

It's been over a year since I last shared my desk,
but a couple of weeks ago I saw a FBpost from Sarah from Sarah's Craft Shed
about decreasing blogviews
and I was reminded of this lovely supporting community
so I ought it was time to join in again,
that is if you have me back of course?

Below a snapshot I just made from my desk

and here are some detail pictures

top left are some watersoluble oil pastels from Talens,
at the right a box filled with my indexcards for the 365somethings2018 challenge,
yes, I am still doing the 365somethings2018,
I am currently at no.199.
I am determined to finish this challenge, rather then abondan it,
don't know in which year it will be finished though 😏
because lately crafting has been on a low fire.
I am trying to find my mojo back in different ways:
by investing in new supplies,
joining back with this bloghop,
creating new stencils with my Silhouette (bottom picture)

thx for stopping by.

a little break

Hello,
Finally I managed to squeeze in some crafting time, the last week and a half I have been busy with installing my new craft room in the attic. I'm nowhere finished but it is progressing and was in need of a break so I made my calender page for December where the prompt is tree and the color to use silver and/or gold.(all details can be found here)

I cut a new stencil with the Cameo and sprayed it with green and turquoise Dylusions. Added some gold and silver words related to Christmas (naughty or nice; checking it twice; Santa Claus) and added the black stylish tree also cut with the Cameo, only need to figure out how to easily glue these intricate designs.

Coincidentally the last weekly challenge of 2015 asks for tree so I will be entering this page also for that.
I also will be linking up to let's play, because this was just the play I needed to get me going again with moving.

Crash

On January 3rd there was a massive car accident where a lorry drove into a queue of cars who were waiting for a red light, 3 people (a mother and her 2 teenage kids) died and the driver got arrested because he tested positive for the drug test (afterwards it became clear that he had smoked something on new year's eve and not on that fatal day). But the public opinion was already formed, also because of the media and their point of view.
That was my starting point for this spread in my ARTicles book

I found this quote to be very appropriate:
Before you assume, learn the facts. Before you judge, understand why. Before you hurt someone, feel. Before you speak, think.

Because it has 4 parts, I divided my page into 4 and made 4 little spreads.

On the first one I started by writing all kinds of fun facts, like did you know that it takes up to 2900 gallons of water to make just one pair of jeans??

Then I used some Inktense pencils to color the background and added some gel medium through a stencil as a resist.

Spray ink on top which I blotted with some kitchen towel, just love the dotted effect it gave.

On the second one I started by spray inking the background on top of which I used a stencil and some more spray ink. I added some doodling in the stenciled figures and added a picture of a scale, the logo of justice.

The third one started out as a collage from leftover pieces of scrap paper

on top of which I did some stenciling with acrylic paint, added some doodles and stamping and a broken felt heart for the feel and hurt in the quote.

Because I had so much paint left over on my palette from the stenciling I used it for the background of the fourth, I used a palette knife to apply the paint, loving that texture.

I added some more texture with texture paste through yet another stencil. And a text stamp for the speaking part of the quote.

So as you noticed I used stencils in 4 different ways:
With gel medium as a resist
Spray inking
With acrylic paint
and with texture paste

Stencils are just so versatile.

NEW TOYS!!!

Past weekend I bought these new stencils:

Which, off coarse, needed to be tested as soon as possible:

I LOVE this print: it's just perfect, pristine and crisp
The ghost print however doesn't blow me away.

Of coarse I couldn't resist the butterfly one.

The alphabet one is amazing, so versatile
works well as a first print

as a ghost print

as a stamp (this is the clean off from my print)

or with spray ink

I love my new stencils, I'm glad I splashed out to buy these, because normally I hold back and try to make all my stencils myself with a heatcutter, but I'm just not able to get such great detail.
They are just FAB!!!

Trust your instinct

Yesterday I showed 2 pages on which I was stuck.
Well, I followed some of the advice that I got (so thank you to everyone) and put them aside and started on something totally different.
I made these stencils:

Can't wait to give them a try ( the last one my son already had some fun with on the gelliplate as you can see)
But first I wanted to finish of one of the pages because suddenly it struck me what to do next.
But first the start.
I used a piece of my tear-off palette which already had some paint on it from another page which I smeared with a sponge.

Added a ground plan of a city with a stamp, an embossed medieval cellar and a border, this is the stage where I got stuck

But after making the stencils I knew I wanted to add some acetate.
So I used some that come with stamps and stamped the text "trust your instinct" on it. Because that is exactly what you should do, whether it is in art or in your everyday life.
