background 44/100

Hello,

Just a quick post with a quick background I made.
Saturday I bought some new stamps, including a key stampset,
I just inked them up as they were in the package and stamped away
and colored with fluo playsticks (the camera didn't pick up the fluo too well).

background 43/100

Hello,

Here follows a step by step of background #43:

collage with underpaper.

gesso to tie everything together.

color with oil pastels.

what a difference some black makes.

the rectangle in the middle was just perfect for
 this new butterfly stamp.

background 42/100

Hello,

In an envelop in one of my collage drawers I found these diecut leaves out of dictionary page,
if I'm not mistaken the die has butterflies on it as well which I used on another project (probably years ago) I thought it was high time I finally put the leaves to good use as well, so I glued them around my page.

and then one thing led to the other,
the space in between screamed for purple,
the space around the leafs for green,
the leafs themselves for blue??
some circle stamping
and this ballerina was just perfect for the page.

No clue at all what to create I started painting colorful stripes,
added different stamps from a set and voila I had been creative.

And without even planning it,
look how well it works with my previous page.
The leftover paint I just brushed in a circular motion on the opposite page (yet another background done)

background 39/100

Hello,

Luckily the temperatures dropped with 10°C compared to yesterday, much better!

My next page already had some blue paint on it from a previous project.
I felt like doing some fingerpainting,
so I DID!

Next I chose this image from an advertisement for sunglasses because of the blue background,
out came the orange and some bold black numbers stencilling.
But now the fingerpainting didn't fit in with the rest,
no problem,
I just folded the page.

I added some butterflies and the quote:
Art is not a mirror to reflect the world, but a hammer with which to shape it.
I totally screwed up her mouth, don't quite know what the opportunity here is but hopefully it will appear soon.

When I will create the next background I will need to take into account that a portion will become part of this page.

Hello and welcome in the sauna,

I am slowly melting away, we are currently experiencing a heatwave here in Belgium, with temperatures up to 35°C today.
My studio is up in the attic, so needless to say it is a sauna up there, so I grabbed a few supplies and found me a place in the shade to create background #38

background 37/100

Hello and welcome,

Still doing backgrounds? I hear you ask.
Well, yes I am.
And no,  I am not getting fed up with them.
Because how I see it is I can start a page without a plan,
without the expectations of a finished page,
I can just play and see where it leads me,
and that is exactly what art should be.

Here are step by step pictures of background #37:

piece of scrapbookpaper and some washi tape.

added some color with ecoline watercolors.

added images from a napkin.

subdued everything with some white and gold acrylic paint.

background 36/100

Hello and welcome,

Background #36 started with some pieces of homemade washitape (done with the gelli plate)

this tape divided the page into lines which led me to painting these colorful stripes

I added some stamping, colored in the circles and made them all shiny with glossy accents

And maybe, just maybe, I should have stopped here,
but I had so much fun with texture tools and scribbling,
I just couldn't stop.

WOYWW 419 - background 35/100

It seems that I’ve only blinked with my eyes and we are already 3 weeks further.
I haven’t been crafting because I had a lot of going on at work and at home,
I know, I know, this shouldn’t be an excuse but…
2 weeks ago my son made a nasty fall with his new bike, he flew over his steering wheel with his face on the street (needless to say that that was traumatizing both for him and me),
Spent the rest of the evening in the hospital where the outcome was a damaged face and 2 chipped tooth, glad to say that in the meanwhile his face has healed and the dentist did a terrific job on his teeth, you can’t see a thing.

So yesterday was the first time I sat down at my desk

where I made the start on background #35.

background 34/100

I can not believe almost 2 weeks already have passed since I've last blogged.
I know the purpose of this challenge is to create each and every single day,
but for me this seems to be unfeasible, sometimes life just gets in between.
Maybe I should try harder to benefit more from this exercise,
but I'm enjoying it and I am crafting more then the first quarter of the year, so it is paying off.

I started with some random things:
dictionary pages, musicnotes stamp, some washitape and this fun footsteps stamp:

I added some patterned paper, color and call it done for now:

background 33/100 - life is an opportunity

Life is an opportunity
Be free
not in a cage
not even in a golden one

My page started with yellow and brown paint on it,
leftovers from another project.
Then I started adding...

and adding...

...and kept on adding until I was satisfied with the result.
(I believe this is a finished piece rather then a background)
