whimsical houses

Yesterday you could see my journal page with whimsical houses on my desk during WOYWW, well here is the walk through.

I started by collaging all different kinds of patterned paper out my scrap drawer to the page

Added acrylic paint in different tones of blue, because I wanted to create a night scene.

Then I went to town with stenciling, I must have used at least 10 different stencils.

I also added some texture paste (2tbs primer/2tbs glue/4tbs baby powder) through a star stencil.

And constructed my whimsical houses out of patterned paper.

The middle one was inspired by one of the cartoons my son loves watching, Ben and Holly’s little kingdom.

Oddly enough he didn’t recognize it, my husband on the other hand did.

Lastly I did some outlining and defining, need to practice on that skill urgently.

And added the words what if.

What if the world would look like this, with such quint little houses, wouldn’t that be fun?

I'm also sharing my page over at Let's Play party hosted by Carolyne Dube I didn't really use a neglected supply, but maybe I used something that you forgot about and got you inspired to givge it some love.

Wednesday again and you know what that means.

We get to show off our litte piece of heaven.

This is what mine looks like today

There is an almost finished art journal page with all the bits and pieces I used around it on my desk: gel sticks, posca pens, scrap paper. You might be wondering why there is babypowder on the table, well that is an ingredient of my homemade texture paste.

Last week I posted a picture of the kangoroutrolley in process and a lot of you couldn't exactly see how it would look like, well here is a picture of it nearly finished, still need to do some painting and drawing the face on.

JAM 4: favourite color/plastic wrap

For challenge no.4 we needed to use plastic wrap, well I already used plastic wrap on the gelli plate and with spray inks, but never with acrylic paints, until now that is. I painted a sheet of watercolor paper with purple and pink paint, made them a bit more fluid with some water, added a piece of plastic wrap on top and wrinkled it up. Then came the hard part, leaving it to dry overnight.

and this is how it turned out

pretty cool.

Cut my circle out of the sheet of paper, now I have some left overs for something else.
Stamped stars in some more purple and pink and added a layer of magic fibres.(something I already have for years in my stash but only used once I believe, so you could say neglected and let that be the time for this month's Let's play challenge too)

Our second letter for the Craft Barn alpha/dictionary challenge is Q.

The Q in the alphabet of happiness stands for question.

I started by writing down all kinds of questions, small and large (from what shall we eat tonight to what is the reason of our existence?) and coloring over it with different hues of blue inktense pencils. 
I cut this stencil

which I used to remove some color with a babywipe.
As focal image I added  this cute gorjuss girl and my typed definition.

hometown/corrugated cardboard

Hello there and welcome,

I'm running a little behind (already) with my JAM challenge.

We're already on our 5th prompt today and this is only my 3rd finished page.

My hometown is Tildonk, a small village (only 7.3 km²) near Leuven in Belgium.

For my page I used a magazine picture of an art deco hall in the sint-angela convent which is now a school, museum and restaurant.

I've created 3 flowers out of corrugated cardboard following this tutorial and the letters were cut with the Cameo.

I also will be entering this page in the weekly Craft Barn challenge, where the theme this week is triplets.

Hello, good day,

and what a good day it is, finally something going on on my workdesk again, after my absent last week because I was fighting of a cold.

And what is exactly on my workdesk?

Well, I'm stripping some cardboard. I need some corrugated cardboard for a project.  

Last time I posted the bee postbox in process which me and my son were making, well here are some pictures of it all finished, he even made a sign for it

And this is the next project in process: 

a kangaroo trolley to carry his art supplies around.

be free as a butterfly

For the January Wanderlust 2016 challenge we had to create a journal page inspired by the quote Sometimes what you're most afraid of doing is the very thing that will set you free 
and follow the rules of composition explained in lesson 2.
I selected papers that represent free to me: music, books, a map 

and collaged these on my page.

Added some gesso, stencilling and spray inks.
Typed out the quote and aged it with some DI and added my focal image, a beautiful butterfly (because what is more free than a butterfly?), according to the rules I believe.
