I
often start a project and get stuck at some point, the Giving Hands Creative
Studio has come with a solution called a
mixed media inspiration deck.
I liked the idea but I wasn’t willing to spent 20 dollars on
them.
So I decided to make a deck of my own.
I started out by cutting 12 gelli prints in 4 pieces of 9 x
6cm, so like in a normal card deck I have a set of 4 cards of each.
Then I started decorating the cards, o boy was my desk a mess after this.
I pulled out all sort of things: stamps, inks, glitter,
embossing powder, texture paste, spray inks, stickers…
Each card has a prompt on the back, these are the ones I
already came up with:
Use a stencil
Use spray ink
Use embossing powder
Use glitter
Use texture paste
Use your favorite stamp
Add some writing
Add some doodling
Great idea Vicky, love those cards! For suggestion what about adding an embellishment, or making a collage, call me crazy I have an other idea, what about turn it upside down and continue...

ReplyDeleteI have also heard of printing the ideas on craft sticks - once you have a few dozen, divide them into jars or 'vases' and when you find yourself in a rut, select one from each group.
ReplyDeleteHere are a few for your consideration: pleats, buttons, charms, puzzle pieces, wood, clay, ribbon, lace, embroidery.
I try to keep my prompts brief, but specific. one other suggestion... play!

DeleteI think this is a great idea! How about also adding words to spur your creativity instead of just techniques. For example colors (red, yellow, etc.); feelings ( sad, happy, angry); days of the week; holidays, etc.

DeleteI made some for myself using a deck of old playing cards. Not as beautiful as yours! i just wrote the prompt on a piece of tape and stuck it to the back of the card. That way I can shuffle the cards to get a mix and then draw 5 cards to use on a project. Some prompts suggest different kinds of supplies, shapes, colors, techniques, words/quotes.... endless possibilities. -- And thanks Tommy M. for sending me to this nice blog. I'll be back.
