Hello and welcome,
I can’t believe it’s been since November since I last joined
this amazing hop around the world one desk at a time,
(check out Julia’s place here if you’d like to join or just want
to know more)
It's not that I didn't do anything, just didn't blog for a while,
and to proof this here is the hot mess that I call my desk
And if you think this is already a mess, I won't show you the floor ☺☺☺
Here is a closer look at the AJpage I'm currently working on
As I wrote in my previous post one of my aims this year is to learn to draw mixed media girls,
and the only way to do that is by doing it,
so this is my first attempt in my actual journal,
I've made some practices in a sketchbook(which actually turned out a bit better)
Thx for taking the time to stop by.
Ooh, you are doing what I set out doing last year but have not revisited this year yet. Drawing whimsical faces. I love the Tracy Scott workshops I am fortunate enough to be able to visit and I want, one day to be able to do faces like she does. A good start is to learn about the proportions (eyes half way down, three eyes in a row etc.
ReplyDeleteKeep at it, practise makes perfect, or so they say. Good luck, will join you next month (this month is too busy to do any)
Hugs, Neet 4 xx
Hi Vicky. Now there's a lovely, exciting desk to peep at. I love that little green spray bottle - so much more attractive than boring white plastic! You are doing really well with the faces. Well done.
ReplyDeleteTake care. God bless.

Hi Vicky, you are so right, we only learn from trying. Funny, I've had the same thing- things in my practice book turn out better than the main thing, lol. We are so critical of ourselves, aren't we. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #7 xxx
ReplyDeleteHey, Vicky - long time no see! I was wondering where you've gone! Nice to have you back. Good going with the AJ page. Have you checked out Tamara Laporte's free videos that teach you how to draw faces? I've started with those myself. She's really good at explaining things. It's the shading I find a bit tricky still! Have fun! zsuzsa #20
ReplyDeleteGreat WOYWW TFS. Happy New Year xx Jan

Good for you! Your page looks great, and the more you do, the better you will get with those girls - you are off to a great start! I love the messiness of your desk - shows a creative mind at work! Thanks for sharing, Lindart #39
ReplyDeleteI am really bad at art journaling. I keep trying, but it always looks like a mess.
ReplyDeleteLove your page!
Happy WOYWW!

I really don't get the whimsical face thing, however big a craze it is, but I hope you get lots of practice - looks ok so far! Helen #2
ReplyDeleteI'm still not brave enough to tackle journals.. and drawing is not my forte.. but I am certain with practice you will enjoy your project :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week,
Erika (#33 not9 lol)
I too have been wanting to start drawing girls for my journal and I think I may just take your advice. Just do it, huh? LOL. Dorlene #44
ReplyDeleteThis looks great, what a wonderful goal for the new year. I actually have a friend who is working at drawing cartoon characters this year. This just gave me more an insight into the many forms drawing can take when it comes to faces.
ReplyDeleteLooks good to me! Sez x #51
ReplyDeleteYAY welcome to art journal junkiedom... and well done you for sharing... journals are so fab because they get better and better as you add... they are never finished.. Donna x#45
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe it when you said how long it is since you joined in, how the time goes. You were right about the desk and where it is if I was at home it would not look so tidy Lol! The oil pastels are water soluble which mean there are more things you can do with them so we shall see as I've not really got on with oil pastels before. Thanks for the visit to mine and happy belated woyww, Angela x 14
ReplyDeleteYour desk looks fine to me :)
ReplyDeleteFaces are tricky aren't they? I guess it's just lots of practice. Your journal page looks good!
Thanks for visiting too.
The only way to (learn how to) draw faces = to draw faces... a lot! I love what you show here, it looks good to me. I also love the bright yellow for the background. It's almost another Wednesday and I am awfully late with my visit... thanks for yours last week! Love from Zeeland! Marit #24
